One restorative treatment that CCIND offers is the creation of both dentures and partial dentures for patients who have experienced extreme tooth loss. The loss of all or most of the teeth in the mouth can result from a severe case of periodontal disease, accidents, genetic deformities, many years of improper oral hygiene, or simply old age. While crowns, dental implants, and bridges are all acceptable for one or for a few missing teeth, a mouth that is missing most teeth may benefit the most from dentures. If only a few teeth are remaining, partial dentures are a great option.

Though obtaining dentures may seem routine to some, the process of selecting and constructing the proper set of dentures for an individual is actually very complex. First, a consultation is necessary to determine if dentures are right for you. You will need to have your teeth, jaw, gums, and bite all examined to see if your mouth is ready for dentures. Sometimes adjustments must be made to your mouth before you can use dentures. Remaining bone may need to be filed down, or gums may need to be adjusted to create a supportive bed for the dentures. Also, if remaining teeth show that they are at risk for falling out, they may need to be pulled. If they are left as-is, partial dentures can be constructed, but if the teeth then fall out later, the process will have to begin anew to be shaped to fit the new smile.
