Dental X-rays

West LA » Dental X-rays

Your teeth may look and feel great, and you may brush after every meal, floss regularly, use the best mouthwash, and get regular cleanings from your dentist. You may think your teeth are fine, but sometimes there can be damage, bacteria, or weaknesses hidden under the surface of your teeth and gums that cannot be seen by the human eye. For this reason, new patients and returning patients must receive dental x-rays at regular intervals to make sure everything below the surface is healthy and strong.

Often, people would prefer to omit the dental x-rays from their regular cleanings or from diagnostic consultations, from fear of radiation. However, we are exposed to unnecessary radiation all the time-from phones, microwaves, airplanes, and other common objects found in or around the home. In the case of x-rays though, this is one time where the small effects of radiation actually are necessary, and the need for the x-ray far outweighs the risks of the radiation they imply. Here at CCIND you can rest assured that we take every precaution to make sure that you are exposed to the minimum amount of radiation possible. First, we cover your torso with a lead-lined apron, and in order to reduce the number of x-rays that need to be taken, we get them done right the first time. Then our staff is able to analyze your x-rays to check for signs of weaknesses, decay, or gum disease.

As always, there staff members at CCIND want you to feel comfortable with your entire dental experience. In the case that you are diagnosed with any sort of illness or are in need of a procedure, you are always entitled to a copy of your x-rays, so that you can receive a second opinion without having to pay for yet another set of x-rays. However, we must remind our patients that we do own the rights to every x-ray we take.

The staff here at CCIND will be happy to discuss any questions or concerns you have about dental x-rays with you. Please call for a consultation today.
